Joda Thongnopnua

Director of Communications

Joda Thongnopnua is the Director of Communications for the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga. He also serves as the Executive Director of the Metro Ideas Project, a non-profit policy research startup dedicated to bringing smart solutions to the tough challenges facing local governments. Previously, Joda led communications efforts at Lamp Post Group, a venture capital firm in Chattanooga working to build the infrastructure necessary to support a tech hub in the Southeast.

Prior to that, he worked with creatives and entrepreneurs at a number of boutique creative agencies on behalf of several global non-profits and commercial firms. He launched his career with the team that founded @BreakingNews, a Twitter account and news organization that was acquired by MSNBC in 2010 after amassing over 1.5 million followers. A policy wonk and a first-generation American, Thongnopnua is passionate about cities and what drives them.
