Dr. Ruth Liu moved to Chattanooga from Chicago in 1976 after her husband completed his residency. Together, they opened his OBGYN practice, which grew rapidly. After teaching through the years at Southern Adventist University, she went back to school to earn her doctorate in higher education leadership and policy studies at the University of Tennessee.
From an early age, she was taught the value of giving back. That’s why, through the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, she has connected her generosity to the causes she’s passionate about. She trusts the foundation’s community expertise and deep non-profit knowledge to help guide and inform her family’s giving.
Dr. Liu co-invests alongside the Fund for Chattanooga, the foundation’s permanently endowed fund. She is passionate about protecting the most vulnerable among us—our community’s children. That’s why she supports the Children’s Advocacy Center, an organization dedicated to serving children affected by child abuse or neglect with professional and age-appropriate services and trauma-informed care.
